Keep Calm and Vote On

America is the world’s greatest democracy. That means every citizen has the right to participate in the decision-making process. Voting is the most important way we do that. By choosing our leaders and supporting ballot initiatives we express what we want as a people. Democracy is the best form of government in the world because WE - not some tyrant or strongman - make the choices that determine our future.

These days it seems hard for people to get along. Our politics have rarely been this divisive. This can turn people away from participation. Sometimes I think that’s the point of all the angry rhetoric - to turn good people away from the polls. IT SHOULDN’T. Remember that our election system in Oklahoma is one of the safest and most reliable in the nation, and that our secret ballot system means that your choice is always honored and protected. So, keep calm and vote on. Just like our first citizens, you have the power to determine the future of our state and our nation.

So, the next time someone starts yelling and being divisive, just smile and make a plan to vote on Election Day.
